China has commissioned the world's first S+C+L three-band ultra-low-loss
multi-core optical cable line in Qingdao, Shandong. The domestically designed
route, led by China Mobile with industry partners, combines space-division
multiplexing with multi-band fusion to exceed conventional fiber transmission
capacity limits and has entered commercial deployment. China Mobile said the
project resolved core technical bottlenecks and represents a key
commercialization milestone, offering a new technical solution for compute
interconnects and ultra-high-bandwidth transmission.
