CARNEY said Canada has made some progress on trade issues with the United States.

In the early hours of June 2 local time, the Knesset plenary approved a bill to dissolve parliament by a 106-0 vote. Under Israeli law the bill must return to relevant committees to amend disputed clauses, then pass consecutive second and third readings in plenary before taking effect and triggering dissolution. Elections are scheduled no later than Oct. 27, 2026; if the bill ultimately passes, Israel could hold early parliamentary elections.

Iranian media reported on the 2nd that a permit application system for vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz has been fully opened. Global shipowners and masters can submit transit applications 24 hours a day via an electronic system established by the managing authority; vessels will receive transit permits after approval.
