China and Australia co‑hosted a WTO seminar in Geneva during Trade and
Environment Week on carbon accounting, standards and trade. China’s deputy
permanent representative to the WTO, Hu Yingzhi, said the key problem is not a
lack of standards but rising fragmentation of rules, and urged the WTO to
address the issue from a trade perspective by improving transparency, promoting
policy coordination, and strengthening development cooperation and capacity
building.
