Since the first batch of pilot approvals in Feb 2025, the Ministry of Industry
and Information Technology (MIIT) has granted 166 foreign-invested firms
approvals to operate value-added telecom services, allowing them to lawfully
offer internet data center (IDC) services, internet access and information
services. China now hosts over 3,100 foreign-invested telecom companies whose
authorized scopes cover all 10 value-added telecom categories in the Telecom
Business Classification Directory.
