June 3, 2026 — Chinese and Vietnamese delegations met in Vung Tau for the 18th round of the Gulf of Tonkin outer-sea delimitation working group and the 15th round of the offshore joint development working group. Chaired by China’s foreign ministry boundary and maritime affairs representative and Vietnam’s national boundary committee director, the sides exchanged detailed views and agreed to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, accelerate synchronized progress on delimitation and South China Sea joint development, and seek early substantive results. They also agreed to properly manage maritime differences and to advance cooperation to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
