Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri rejected a US-brokered, US-backed
Israel-Lebanon ceasefire agreement, Al Jazeera citing the Lebanese National News
Agency reported. Berri said the text contained a trap by imposing a unilateral
demand for Hezbollah’s full ceasefire and withdrawal of all its fighters south
of the Litani River. He said he would only accept a mutual, unconditional
ceasefire across land, sea and air that does not call for destruction of
existing facilities, coupled with Hezbollah’s pullback from south of the Litani
and Israeli withdrawal from occupied areas.
