The Baltic Dry Index fell on Friday as Capesize and Panamax freight rates
declined. The BDI dropped 56 points, or 1.8%, to 2,981, down 7.5% for the week.
The Capesize index fell 147 points, or 2.9%, to 4,893, sliding 11.1% on the
week; Capesize average daily earnings fell US$1,333 to US$40,871. The Panamax
index fell 18 points to 2,236, down 4.6% for the week; Panamax daily earnings
fell US$164 to US$20,121. The Supramax index rose 4 points to 1,588, up 1.2% for
the week.
