June 4 – The European Parliament issued an internal notice directing members to
set a French search engine as the default on office computers, replacing Google
to reduce reliance on US tech firms and to implement EU commitments on digital
sovereignty and personal data protection. On June 3 the European Commission
published a "European technology sovereignty" package proposing to bolster
capabilities in AI, semiconductors, cloud computing and open source and to
support European alternatives to foreign suppliers to enhance digital autonomy
and resilience.
