A team led by researcher Liu Chenli at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced
Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with scientists from Japan,
South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, has published Asia’s first
10-year synthetic cell technology roadmap in Nature Biotechnology. The roadmap
focuses on artificial synthesis of single-cell life, identifies four core
technical challenges and sets phased development targets to shift research from
modular exploration to system-level integration, and calls for deeper
convergence of quantitative synthetic biology, artificial intelligence and
biomanufacturing, opening new development paths for synthetic biology and future
biotech.
