NBC reports, citing two current and one former US officials, that the Pentagon has increasingly warned Israel is stepping up espionage against the United States and that the Defense Intelligence Agency in recent weeks issued an internal counterintelligence assessment elevating the threat level for Israel to "critical." Officials said the DIA’s concern centers on alleged Israeli monitoring of senior US officials to obtain internal deliberations and decisions on how the Trump administration might handle a conflict with Iran. The Israeli embassy in Washington called the allegations "completely false." A White House official said the story is "false" and that its sources "know nothing of the facts."
