In Canada he held meetings with the parliamentary secretary to the prime minister, a former deputy prime minister, the deputy minister of heritage, MPs and senators, a Montreal mayoral representative, and conducted talks with the Canada‑China Friendship Association, Canada‑China Business Council and the Bethune Association. In the United States he met with the mayor of San Francisco, the Oregon Senate president, the acting speaker of the Washington state House and the honorary chair of the global sister cities association.
