Civil aviation enters the seasonal peak ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival and
summer holidays, but Shenzhen-origin fares have plunged. In the week before the
festival, one-way tickets from Shenzhen to Hangzhou, Guiyang, Haikou and Wuhan
are selling for just over 200 yuan—about half to one-third of typical July
averages. Travelers report return fares can be roughly 1,000 yuan cheaper if the
return date avoids the holiday peak. Some long-haul routes to northern
destinations are even cheaper. Online travel platform data show off-peak ticket
bookings for June 1–15 rose 19.6% YoY versus last year’s pre-festival period.
