Sources said the talks signal a notable shift as both sides increasingly see value in stabilizing ties. Abu Dhabi wants to preserve large economic projects — including bln-dollar plans to raise oil output and build AI data centers — while Iran views the UAE as a key pre-war trade partner and a conduit for sanctioned oil exports. Since late-February Iran has attacked the UAE more than any other country; Abu Dhabi has retaliated and taken the firmest regional stance against Tehran. The UAE appears to be following Qatar and Saudi Arabia’s path by trying to defuse tensions through diplomacy.
