Israel Defense Minister Katz said Israel must retain the independent capability
to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and has, along with Prime
Minister Netanyahu, ordered the IDF to prepare accordingly. Katz said US
President Trump is pursuing a deal with Iran from US interests that should
include the shared US-Israel objective of blocking Iranian nuclear capability
and urged firmness on Iran’s missile program and proxy networks. The statement
added Israel will not withdraw from its security zones in Lebanon, Syria or Gaza
and said Israel’s security posture aims to counter threats “near and far,” not
compromise.
