Iran foreign ministry spokesman BAGHAEI said on June 13 any possible
understanding with the US would be intended only to sustain talks, not to serve
as a final agreement. Unfreezing Iran’s frozen assets would be an indispensable
component of any such understanding. Iran is prioritizing an end to hostilities
on all fronts and regional tensions and is not discussing nuclear details at
this stage. BAGHAEI said the only path to regional security is ending foreign
military presence and that talks also cover stopping US hostile actions against
Iranian vessels and issues in the Strait of Hormuz. He added Iran will act with
maximum caution in negotiations and may take countermeasures if the other side
fails to fulfill its obligations.
