US defense secretary Hegseth said the US and Iran are still expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on June 14 to restart shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and lift the US blockade of Iranian ports. He said both sides would have 60 days after signing to negotiate longer-term peace arrangements and terms for ending Iran's nuclear program. Hegseth said the agreement would be performance-based, with no funds released to Iran before it fulfils its commitments.
