At a June 15 regular briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian was asked
whether China had taken part in discussions or contributed to reopening the
Strait of Hormuz. Lin said that since the outbreak of fighting China has worked
to stop the war and pursue peace; President Xi’s four-point proposal to maintain
and promote Middle East peace and stability, he said, reflects China’s
consistent push for dialogue and dispute resolution and has contributed to
efforts to end hostilities and build international consensus. Lin added that
China will continue, in the spirit of Xi’s four-point proposal, to uphold a just
position and contribute Chinese strength toward lasting peace in the Middle
East.
