Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a June 15 regular briefing the
Strait of Hormuz is an important international waterway and that restoring
stability is in the interest of regional states and the international community.
China noted a first-stage memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US
that includes reopening the strait and said it hopes safe, free passage will be
restored promptly. China said it is willing to maintain communication with
regional countries and the international community on related issues.
