On June 15, China's Li held a phone call with the Vietnamese prime minister. Li
said China is willing to deepen strategic alignment with Vietnam, expand and
upgrade bilateral trade, advance infrastructure connectivity and accelerate
construction of cross‑border economic cooperation zones. He urged expanded
cooperation in energy and minerals, the digital economy, artificial intelligence
and finance. The two agreed to promote tourism cooperation, implement targeted
small-scale livelihood projects, and properly manage maritime disputes to reduce
bilateral risk. Li said China will strengthen coordination with Vietnam in
multilateral forums including the UN and WTO, and they pledged mutual support
for hosting informal APEC leaders’ meetings this year and next to promote an
open Asia‑Pacific economy and defend free trade amid rising protectionism.
