China’s National Healthcare Security Administration said on the 15th that in
2025 the nationwide per‑admission hospital cost under employee medical insurance
was 11,152.69 yuan and under resident medical insurance 7,338.49 yuan, down
4.73% and 0.94% respectively from 2024. NHSA said patient out‑of‑pocket burdens
eased and credited the decline to medical insurance payment reform away from
itemized fee‑for‑service, which it said had fostered overprescribing and
excessive testing.
