CNBC reported senior ANTHROPIC executives met in Washington on Monday with Trump
administration officials after a U.S. export-control directive on Friday ordered
the company to suspend access to its newest AI models, Fable 5 and MYTHOS 5, for
any foreign national whether inside or outside the United States. ANTHROPIC said
it disabled customer access to comply. The company said it had tested the models
with government agencies and received deployment clearance before release. The
U.S. government called ANTHROPIC at 1:00 p.m. ET on Friday requesting the
shutdown and followed with a formal letter around 5:30 p.m. ET; ANTHROPIC said
it had received no prior notice of a national-security concern before the
directive.
