Next month marks the U.S. 250th anniversary. A four-day Reuters/Ipsos poll ending Monday found 38% of respondents — including 40% of Democrats and 26% of Republicans — said the U.S. will not still exist as a unified country in 250 years. Two-thirds of respondents (85% of Democrats, 50% of Republicans) agreed U.S. democracy faces a risk of failure, up from 57% in an August survey. Thirty percent said the U.S. is the world’s greatest country, down from 38% in November 2017. A majority — including 75% of Democrats and 50% of Republicans — said celebrations of the 250th anniversary have become overly politicized.
