Seasonally adjusted Canadian Association of Real Estate data showed May
existing-home sales rose 5.5% MoM, the biggest monthly increase since Oct 2024;
unadjusted sales were down 5.1% YoY. CREA said May was the first month in 2026
to show a clear demand rebound. Sales and new listings remain roughly flat or
below year-earlier levels, while the national benchmark price has fallen for a
16th consecutive month. List-to-sale price ratios have narrowed and days on
market have shortened, indicating improving market balance.
