Hang Seng Index futures opened the day session up 0.16% at 24,512, trading a 6-point premium to the cash index.

LPL Financial chief equity strategist Jeff Buchbinder said investors are watching the Fed’s new chair’s first press conference for signals on inflation, unemployment and the economic outlook. The 10-year US Treasury yield is trading around 4.43%. Buchbinder said the Fed least wants to see a sharp rise in the 10-year yield; keeping it below 4.5% is critical, particularly with oil prices already down. He said investors should not expect the Fed to act quickly.
