June 15-16, 2026 — Chinese Middle East special envoy Zhai Jun visited Qatar and
met Qatar’s minister of state for foreign affairs to discuss bilateral ties and
the regional situation. Zhai said Beijing will deepen China‑Qatar relations
under leaders’ strategic guidance and implement their consensus; China welcomed
agreement between the US and Iran on a first‑phase memorandum of understanding,
praised Qatar and other mediators for de‑escalation efforts, urged parties to
pursue peace through dialogue, and pledged to advance Xi’s four‑point proposal
to promote Middle East peace and stability and to step up coordination with
regional states to help restore security in the Gulf.
