After repeated food-safety incidents at Sam's Club stores and online and a
responsibility meeting held by the State Administration for Market Regulation
with Walmart (China) Investment Co., Guangdong Market Supervision Bureau said it
will continue to track Walmart's remediation, enforce headquarters' primary
food-safety responsibility, and conduct unannounced follow-up inspections to
consolidate results. The bureau also said it will draw wider lessons, strengthen
supervision mechanisms for food retail chains and step up measures to prevent
and mitigate food-safety risks.
