Chinese fiber-optic manufacturers are accelerating R&D to serve AI compute and
high-speed interconnect demand. A Suzhou-based fiber-and-cable producer has
sharply increased R&D spending this year, leveraging advantages from
domestically controllable optical-fiber preform production to develop
low-latency, high-bandwidth, high-density cabling for AI data centers, focusing
on multi-core fiber and hollow-core anti-resonant fiber to speed product
iteration and target global compute-fiber market share.
