Axios reports U.S., Iranian and mediator teams are discussing moving a
memorandum signing from Friday to as early as Wednesday. If advanced, the
memorandum would be signed electronically, provisions on the Strait of Hormuz
would take effect earlier and the U.S. would be able to publish the text.
Sources say the push is aimed at reopening the Strait ahead of Friday after both
sides agreed on that issue; White House pressure to release the text may also be
a factor. Delegations remain scheduled to meet in Switzerland on Friday to
discuss restarting talks on Iran’s nuclear program. Sources conflict on whether
an electronic signing already occurred last Sunday: one U.S. official said it
did, diplomatic sources said it did not, and another source said an electronic
signing took place with a second signing still planned; the need for two
signings is unclear.
