The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, MOFCOM, the NDRC, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the National Energy Administration will organise a 2026 new-energy-vehicles (NEV) to-countryside campaign. The notice calls for coordination with existing initiatives such as the "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns NEV Consumption Season" and the selection of counties with low NEV penetration but high market potential for targeted offline events. Authorities will run model displays, test drives and other in-person experience formats, supplemented by livestreaming and online consultation to drive rural footfall to dealerships and boost offline retail. NEV dealers, after-sales maintenance and charging/swapping operators, plus insurance and credit providers, will be mobilised to support rural deployment and improve service and infrastructure. The campaign also directs promotion of intelligent connected-vehicle technologies, new charging and swapping technologies, integrated photovoltaic+storage+charging systems and vehicle-grid interaction in rural areas.
