A central-local meeting to advance an international science and technology innovation center in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area was held in Guangzhou on June 18. Guangdong Party Secretary Huang Kunming said the province must not miss the historic AI development opportunity; the Bay Area already has relatively advanced mechatronics and AI capabilities and will accelerate AI development. Guangdong will push integrated action on data, compute, algorithms and applications, emphasise application-led adoption, use Bay Area scenarios to incubate native technologies, products and services, strengthen key industry platforms and continue to build out intelligent compute capacity to position the region as a global AI industry innovation hub.

Zhejiang provincial government signed a strategic cooperation framework with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) to deepen collaboration on space artificial intelligence, commercial space, aerospace+ emerging industries and innovation ecosystems. The agreement aims to integrate aerospace activities and industry with Zhejiang’s economy and jointly cultivate new productive forces. Zhejiang and CASC already cooperate on space technology innovation, drone R&D and manufacturing, and aerospace electronic equipment production.
