June 18 — MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO met Canadian Industry Minister Joly, the
prime minister’s parliamentary secretary Blois and business delegates in Beijing
to discuss China-Canada trade, operations of Canadian firms in China and mutual
economic priorities. RAIMONDO said both sides should use the China-Canada
Economic and Trade Joint Committee as the principal channel, consolidate
traditional industry cooperation and expand ties in emerging and future sectors
to tighten shared interests. He said China values foreign investors’ views and
is willing to work with Canada through frank dialogue and pragmatic cooperation
to expand the cooperation agenda, reduce outstanding issues and promote healthy,
stable, sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
