China Railway Shanghai Group said June 19, the first day of the Dragon Boat
Festival holiday, the Yangtze River Delta will handle a peak travel day and
expects to carry about 4.15 million passengers. On top of a peak timetable it
plans to add 217 extra passenger trains—65 through services toward Wuhan,
Nanchang, Xi’an, Luoyang and Qingdao and 152 departures from Shanghai to Xuzhou,
Lianyungang, Hefei, Fuyang and Wenzhou—while also operating 312 double‑set EMU
services and attaching 64 conventional passenger carriages to meet holiday
demand.
