At the A-share open, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.08%, the Shenzhen Composite rose 0.41% and ChiNext rose 0.48%. Leading gains were in lab-grown diamonds, memory chips, rare-earth permanent magnets and fiber-optic related stocks.

Iranian sources said on the 22nd that negotiations between Iran and the United States in Switzerland began on the 21st at about 15:00 local time and ran roughly 1.5 hours before being recessed for 30 minutes for internal consultations. Iran's delegation refused to resume after Trump made threatening remarks. Qatar and Pakistan continue mediating and intermediaries are still relaying messages; mediation is ongoing but no final agreement has been reached. Iran lodged a formal protest over U.S. breaches of commitments, citing a specific violation of Article 1 of the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

A June 21 poll by Hebrew University of Jerusalem and think‑tank Agam Lab (survey June 17–20, n=3,644) shows Prime Minister Netanyahu’s support dropped to 29.4% from 40.5% in early March. 72.5% said they do not trust Netanyahu; 56.4% described his handling of military operations as failed or poor. 63.2% oppose a US–Iran agreement and 12.1% support one. 48.2% back a large-scale Israeli strike on Hezbollah in Lebanon even if it risks confrontation with the US; 21% oppose.
