On June 22, CATL and Octopus Energy announced a joint venture to build a
European heavy-truck battery-swap network. CATL will deploy its Qiji
battery-swap technology in Europe to raise replenishment efficiency for heavy
trucks and accelerate road freight electrification. The partners plan first UK
demo swap stations by 2027, prioritising motorways and key logistics ports. The
network is targeted to exceed 30 stations by 2035, extending to Scotland and
Wales and covering the UK's core trunk routes.
