On June 22, Qatari prime minister and foreign minister Mohammed said Qatar’s top
priority is defusing regional tensions and restoring calm and stability. He
urged all parties to resolve disputes diplomatically to prevent escalation,
warning that any flare-up anywhere in the Middle East, including Lebanon, could
affect US–Iran negotiations. Mohammed said some states were attempting to
disrupt the US–Iran talks, but mediators including Qatar detect willingness from
both sides to seek a settlement.
