Brussels, June 22 — The second EU–Moldova summit was held with European Council
President Costa, European Commission President Von der Leyen and Moldovan
President Sandu in attendance. The EU said it formally opened first-stage
accession talks with Moldova a week earlier and described the summit as marking
a new stage in the accession process. Leaders focused on next-phase work to
integrate Moldova into the EU single market and policy framework and reviewed
the Moldova Growth Plan and reform implementation. The EU said Moldova has
received about €504 million in EU support to date.
