Chinese A-shares ended broadly lower as selling intensified. Shanghai Composite
fell 1.37%, Shenzhen Composite dropped 3.17% and the ChiNext Index tumbled
3.84%. The nonferrous metals sector plunged, with China Rare Earth and multiple
stocks hitting limit-downs. Pharmaceuticals led gains with several limit-ups
including Lingkang Pharmaceutical; new materials were active and Huanghe
Xuanfeng posted a second consecutive limit-up. Agriculture/animal husbandry,
seed stocks and banks outperformed, while CPO-related names, power equipment,
building materials, steel and media lagged. Roughly 2,600 stocks declined and
turnover exceeded 3.4 trillion yuan.
