At a June 23 regular Foreign Ministry briefing, spokesman Guo Jiakun was asked
about reports that Ukraine is seeking to deepen drone cooperation with Japan.
Guo said China supports bilateral cooperation that promotes regional peace and
stability, and accused Japan of accelerating remilitarization by developing
medium- and long-range offensive weapons, lifting restrictions on lethal weapons
exports, expanding Self-Defense Forces activities and external interactions, and
creating an operational combat system—moves he said breach Japan's constitution,
international norms and the principle of exclusive defense and challenge the
post-war international order. He warned Japan's new militarism threatens
regional peace and urged the international community to be vigilant and to
restrain it.
