Iran’s permanent representative to the UN Office in Geneva Ali Bahreyni said on the 23rd that technical-level talks with the US in Switzerland were "very smooth" and that the sides will set up two working groups in the coming days to discuss, at a technical level, sanctions relief and Iran’s nuclear issue. Bahreyni said Iran will continue negotiations if the US shows a constructive attitude. He added that permitting nuclear inspectors into Iran has not yet been discussed and that nuclear activity issues are reserved for the next formal negotiation phase. The Strait of Hormuz "remains open," he said, but its status after 60 days will depend on progress in talks. He reiterated Iran’s red line against any further attacks on Lebanon, including Beirut and the south.
