Nigeria police on the 23rd confirmed an armed attack in Plateau State on the morning of the 21st local time that left at least 20 dead. Unidentified attackers on motorcycles entered a community, used knives and firearms in an indiscriminate assault on residents, and fled. Initial reports cited 18 dead and three wounded, two of whom later died. Motive is unclear; police have opened an investigation.
