Zhongkuang Resources Group Co., Ltd. chairman and CEO Wang Pingwei met with
Zambian presidential economic adviser Pamela Nakamba, presidential projects
special assistant Lawrence Mwanayenda and Cabinet Secretary Patrick Congwa to
discuss progress and plans for the Katumba copper project. The $610 mln project
has generated about 3,900 local jobs and is expected to employ 5,000–6,000 at
full operation. Equipment procurement, civil works and pipeline installation are
progressing on schedule, with target of concentrator commissioning readiness or
trial production in Q3 2026. The project maintains an environmental-first
approach and pursues a green "energy+resources" integration pathway.
