Chip stocks rallied in after-hours trading Wednesday after Micron Technology (MU.O) reported results and guidance above expectations; its shares rose about 15% after hours and were roughly 270% YTD at Wednesday’s close. Qualcomm (QCOM.O) also rallied, gaining as much as 15% after management at an investor day outlined an expanded AI/data-center push and said its data-center chip expansion will deliver "billions of dollars" of revenue in the fiscal year beginning in October.

The Hill reports Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick "an idiot" during a dispute over preparations for a rare-earth metals transaction under the US-Ukraine natural resources agreement signed April 30, 2025. Lutnick accused Bessent of "sabotaging" the deal; Bessent reportedly called Lutnick's proposal "a shit deal." The agreement gives the US priority purchase rights on minerals extracted in Ukraine and establishes a 50/50 joint investment fund to jointly manage and finance development.
