Shafaq media cited Iraqi government sources on Wednesday saying Iraq is
considering exiting OPEC if the group refuses Baghdad’s request to raise its
production quota to parity with some members. The quota bid is part of a broader
plan to expand exports and recoup recent war-related losses. Baghdad is also
evaluating the market impact of exceeding OPEC limits, including a potential
rise in global crude supply and downward pressure on oil prices. A government
source said any decision on output increases or an OPEC exit could come after
the Iraqi prime minister’s planned mid‑next‑month visit to Washington.
