On June 24 local time, full-line construction started on a ±800 kV HVDC transmission project to export renewable power from northeast Brazil. Independently financed, built and operated by State Grid Brazil Holdings, the project is the largest transmission concession investment in Brazilian history. Awarded in Dec 2023 and with a concession agreement signed in Apr 2024, the project received full construction approval in Jun 2026, is scheduled for commercial operation in 2029 and carries a 30-year concession term.
