A pilot mistakenly broadcast transponder code 7500 — the hijack signal — on a Warsaw–Tel Aviv commercial flight on Tuesday, prompting the Israeli military to scramble two fighters to intercept the aircraft over the Mediterranean and Bulgaria to dispatch a MiG‑29 to escort it in Bulgarian airspace.
