On July 3, China’s domestically built, currently world‑largest methanol dual‑fuel containership Dongfang Zhihui began commercial maiden voyage from Qingdao. The vessel completed loading of over 3,000 TEU at the port and received about 1,500 tonnes of methanol via ship‑to‑ship bunkering, then sailed for major Northern European ports to enter Qingdao–Europe core container trunkline service.

The Israel Defense Forces said on the 3rd it carried out precision strikes over the past two days on roughly 10 Hezbollah infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon and on a truck transporting weapons. The IDF said strikes on the 2nd hit Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanese areas including Bint Jbeil, Beit Yahoun, Kunin and Brashit, which it alleged were used to attack Israeli soldiers operating inside the "security zone". In the early hours of the 3rd the IDF said it detected a Hezbollah armed group attempting to move weapons by truck near the southern "security zone" and struck the vehicle to eliminate the threat.
