Samsung Electronics intends to raise average DRAM selling prices by roughly 20%
quarter-on-quarter in Q3, suppliers said. One consumer electronics OEM said
Samsung discussed the move in June and has begun issuing verbal price notices to
some customers. Suppliers warned higher upstream component costs will be passed
into device prices and could temper demand, though they expect limited impact on
consumer purchases given current low retail price levels. A separate industry
source also confirmed Samsung has orally quoted select clients for a 20% Q3 DRAM
increase.
