Prime Minister NETANYAHU’s cabinet voted unanimously to refuse recognition of
any decisions by the Second Authority for Television and Radio, the regulator
for commercial broadcasting, directly contravening a Supreme Court order that
the authority continue operating despite falling below its statutory quorum
after a wave of resignations. The court said the resignations may have been
orchestrated by the communications minister’s office. This is the first time the
Israeli government has formally announced it will not comply with a Supreme
Court ruling.
