Qatar's foreign ministry summoned Iran's deputy ambassador and delivered a formal protest after a Qatari liquefied natural gas carrier was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. Doha demanded Iran immediately cease actions that endanger regional security and threaten international shipping and global energy supplies, and said it reserves the right to take measures under international law to protect its interests. The démarche comes as security tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to escalate.
