UK to lead a European initiative to boost funding for deep precision-strike capabilities. Under the initiative, allies will invest $50 billion over the next 10 years to develop those capabilities.

China Coast Guard said on July 7 that Japanese fishing vessel Zuihou Maru illegally entered Chinese territorial waters off Chiwei Islet; coast guard vessels warned the boat, took control measures and expelled it. The coast guard reiterated China's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands (Senkaku Islands), urged Japan to immediately cease infringing and provocative activity in the area, and said it will continue law-enforcement patrols in waters around the islands to defend territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.

The Kremlin says it is in contact with the U.S. government and hopes U.S. efforts to achieve peace succeed.
